Light-Based Treatments That
Do What Skincare Cannot
Laser treatments work at a level that topical products and even most aesthetic treatments simply can't reach. Depending on the wavelength and technology used, laser energy can target pigment deep in the skin, disable hair follicles permanently, close unwanted blood vessels, and stimulate collagen remodeling in ways that produce lasting structural change.
At La Ru, every laser treatment is physician-directed and calibrated for your specific skin type, tone, and concern. High altitude means higher UV exposure, more dramatic temperature swings, and skin that often carries more cumulative damage than people realize. Our protocols are built with that in mind.
We believe in taking the time to understand your skin before we treat it. At your consultation we'll walk through what each treatment does, what a realistic timeline looks like, and which approach makes the most sense for your goals.
A note on sessions: Most laser treatments require a series to achieve optimal results — not because one session doesn't work, but because skin responds in cycles. Hair follicles, pigmentation, and collagen all respond differently across multiple treatments. We'll build a realistic plan at your consultation so you know exactly what to expect and when.
If your skin has accumulated years of sun exposure — and at Mammoth's elevation, it almost certainly has — IPL is one of the most effective tools available for resetting the clock on tone and clarity. Intense pulsed light targets melanin and hemoglobin in the skin, breaking down pigmented spots, diffuse redness, and uneven tone at the source.
Unlike lasers that work on a single wavelength, IPL delivers a broad spectrum of light that can address multiple concerns in a single session. Sun spots, post-acne marks, general dullness, and early vascular changes all respond well to IPL — making it one of the most versatile treatments in our menu.
Results are progressive. After each session, pigmented spots typically darken briefly before rising to the surface and shedding — a normal and expected part of the process. Most clients see significant improvement in tone and clarity over a series of treatments.
Most clients benefit from a series of 3–5 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart for initial correction, followed by annual maintenance. Downtime is minimal — some redness and darkening of treated spots for 3–7 days. Results build progressively across the series.

🩺 Skin health tip: We highly recommend having an annual full-body skin check with a dermatologist. If it's been more than a year, consider scheduling one — especially before beginning laser treatments for pigmentation.
Laser hair removal is one of the most requested treatments in aesthetic medicine — and for good reason. Medical-grade laser energy targets the pigment in hair follicles, disabling them at the root for long-term, permanent reduction. The result is smoother skin with progressively less hair after each session.
We offer both men's and women's packages across all common treatment areas. Whether you're addressing a small area like the upper lip or chin, or looking for a comprehensive package covering multiple areas, we'll build a plan that fits your goals and your timeline.
Hair removal works best on hair in its active growth phase — which is why multiple sessions are required. Not all follicles are active at the same time, and only active follicles respond to treatment. Spacing sessions correctly is key to capturing each cycle and achieving the best possible outcome.
Most areas require 6–8 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart depending on the treatment area and hair growth cycle. Facial areas typically require more frequent sessions; body areas can be spaced further apart. Touch-up sessions 1–2x per year are common for hormonally influenced areas. Shave (do not wax or pluck) between sessions.

Visible redness, broken capillaries, and the persistent flushing of rosacea are among the most common skin concerns we see at altitude — and some of the most difficult to address with skincare alone. Cold air, UV intensity, wind, and rapid temperature changes between indoors and out create a perfect environment for vascular damage to develop and worsen over time.
Laser vascular treatments work by delivering targeted energy that is selectively absorbed by hemoglobin — the pigment in blood — while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected. Blood vessels absorb the energy, collapse, and are gradually reabsorbed by the body. The result is a visible reduction in redness, broken capillaries, and flushing over a series of treatments.
This is a management treatment, not a cure — particularly for rosacea, which has underlying causes that extend beyond the visible vessels. But consistent treatment produces meaningful, lasting improvement in the appearance of redness and broken capillaries, and we'll build an ongoing plan to maintain your results.
Most clients see improvement after 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments every 3–6 months for rosacea-prone skin. Individual vessels can often be resolved in fewer sessions. Minimal downtime — some redness and mild swelling for 24–48 hours post-treatment.

🩺 Skin health tip: We highly recommend having an annual full-body skin check with a dermatologist. If it's been more than a year, consider scheduling one before beginning vascular laser treatments.
Q-Switch laser technology delivers ultra-short pulses of energy that shatter pigment particles in the skin — whether that pigment is unwanted ink from a tattoo or excess melanin from sun damage, melasma, or age spots. The fragmented particles are then naturally cleared by the body over the weeks following treatment.
For tattoo removal, results depend on the ink colors present, the depth of the tattoo, and how long it has been in place. Older tattoos and certain ink colors respond faster; newer tattoos and some pigments require more sessions. We'll assess your specific tattoo at consultation and give you a realistic picture of what to expect.
For pigmentation concerns like melasma and stubborn age spots that haven't responded well to IPL or topical treatments, Q-Switch offers a more targeted approach — delivering energy precisely to the pigmented areas while leaving surrounding skin unaffected. It's one of the most effective tools available for deep or resistant pigmentation.
Tattoo removal typically requires 6–10+ sessions depending on ink density, color, and tattoo age — spaced 6–8 weeks apart to allow the body to clear fragmented pigment between sessions. Pigmentation concerns generally require fewer sessions. Minimal downtime — treated areas may be red and slightly swollen for 24–48 hours post-treatment.

🩺 Skin health tip: For pigmentation concerns, we highly recommend an annual full-body skin check with a dermatologist to rule out any lesions that require medical evaluation before laser treatment.
Fractional laser resurfacing creates thousands of microscopic treatment zones in the skin — triggering the body's natural wound healing response and stimulating new collagen and elastin production. The result is a measurable improvement in skin texture, tone, fine lines, and scarring that builds progressively over the weeks and months following treatment.
Unlike fully ablative resurfacing that removes the entire surface of the skin, fractional treatment leaves surrounding tissue intact, which significantly reduces downtime while still producing meaningful structural change. It's one of the most effective treatments available for addressing the cumulative effects of sun exposure, aging, and scarring — all concerns that mountain living accelerates.
Fractional resurfacing works at a depth that no topical product, peel, or microneedling treatment can match for structural remodeling. It's also one of the treatments where physician direction matters most — settings, depth, and pass patterns have a significant impact on outcome and safety.
Most clients see significant improvement in texture and tone after 1–3 sessions depending on the concern being addressed. Downtime is 3–7 days of redness, swelling, and skin peeling — plan accordingly. Full collagen remodeling continues for 3–6 months post-treatment. SPF compliance before and after is non-negotiable at altitude.
